What rocks about the Soozier Kinetic?

To be absolutely honest, we’re not big fans of wind trainers. Of all the different types of stationary bike stands available, wind trainers always leave us disappointed, mainly because of the noise they generate. And, this trainer also doesn’t disappoint in that regard…

But you know what, don’t let the humming and vibration from the fan blades disturb you. Just let the machine do its job (and stick on your earphones) and you’ll get a good workout. If your goal is to keep fit, increase your stamina, and maintain your cycling skills, this trainer delivers without any fancy addons. You may not get the realistic ride other models boast about, but it gets the job done. It’s certainly good to have it on those cold winter days!

As for the resistance levels, well, they increase with speed, and you can fine tune your workout by shifting gears and controlling your pedaling speed. But you may find the ride not quite as challenging as an outdoor session, since the resistance level is limited.

Again, however, we have to point out the value you’re getting here; it’s inexpensive (around $70) and built to last. It has a strong frame for stable support and is equipped with a roller that should minimize the wear on your tires. You can use it with mountain and road bikes with 26”, 27”, and 700c wheels.

Assembly is easy. Just lock it down on the quick release system of your bike, or bolt it on your rear wheels. You can use the micro-adjust knob feature of the trainer to fine tune the assembly according to the size of your tire. Even with the noise and vibration generated by the fan blades, the trainer is stable and will give you a good workout.

After you are through with your workout, just release the trainer from the setup, fold it, and store it close at hand for your next workout. Its compact size when folded is also pretty useful as it doesn’t take up much space. You can even take it with you when you travel since the folded trainer is compact and will fit in the baggage compartment of your car – it’s also fairly light, coming in at 21 pounds.

Some of the main features of the Soozier Kinetic Trainer

  • Sturdy frame that provides support and stability.
  • Can work with mountain and road bikes with 26”, 27” and 700c wheels.
  • Inexpensive, yet durable and is an effective indoor trainer.
  • The frame can be folded for easy storage.
  • Precision-machined roller to reduce wear on your rear tire.

Pros and Cons of the Soozier Kinetic Resistance Trainer

The Pros…

  • The trainer is inexpensive and gives a decent performance.
  • It’s low cost.
  • Its sturdy frame provides stable support for mountain and road bikes. Despite the vibrations, it remains stable and well anchored.
  • Comes with a micro-adjust knob for fine tuning the setup according to the tire size.
  • The trainer comes with a roller that is precision-machined to minimize wear on the tires.
  • The setup is easy to assemble and dismantle, thus alternating between indoor and outdoor biking is easy.
  • The frame can be folded into a compact size for easy storage.

The Cons

Its resistance mechanism generates too much noise and causes the bike seat to vibrate. Using it in the house with family members around is just not possible, but is perfect for the basement!

Don’t buy this trainer if you live in an apartment complex where the noise may bother your next door neighbors. If you want a trainer with little noise, we’d recommend any of these fluid trainers.

It is rather low-tech. OK, you’ll get a decent workout, but for the same money I think it might be worth spending your hard-earned cash on a decent budget trainer like the Magnet Steel Indoor Trainer. Of course, if you’re looking for some serious training, then splash out on something like the CycleOps Fluid 2. And if you’re still determined to splash the cash on a wind trainer, we’d have to point you in the direction of the CycleOps Wind Trainer.

Our honest opinion…

It’s not expensive, as far as indoor trainers go, but it probably won’t give most of you a challenging workout and the noise levels may be bothersome, but again, it is easy on your budget and quite sturdy. It actually could be a perfect solution if you’re ready to leave the challenges to your outdoor rides.
